TOP 5 cities to spend your All Saints day

TOP 5 cities to spend your All Saints day

Autumn is my favorite season. Falling leaves, romantic colors and brand-new scarves. All this makes me fall in love and gives me incredible energy to travel. The November day off is very close and this is a perfect reason to have one of the last breaks of the year; that’s why I have created a top 5 cities to spend your All Saints day where you can dress up and spend the best Halloween night of your life or simply where you can enjoy a few days of relaxation either alone, or in a couple or with your friends … that is already your big thing.

As I said small holiday breaks are my antidote against the seasonal cold. However, when I think of November I also start thinking about Christmas and the thousands of gifts I have to make, but today I want to tell you about cheap destinations to which neither you nor I can say NO during Halloween and All Saints day:

  1. BARCELONA AND LA CASTANYADA

How many chestnuts can I eat in one day? Too many. If you also love these nuts, Barcelona is the perfect city to go during the November holidays to celebrate the traditional La Castanada.

Do not feel shy to buy one, two or three chestnuts cones for a ridiculous price. All the streets and squares of the Catalan capital are covered with autumn colors and chestnut vendors, this is one of the most magical periods of the year for me and I, if it were you, would not miss it.

In addition, another curiosity of the city is that at the beginning of November there will take a place an event of the Manga Salon Barcelona so if while walking around Plaza de España you see people dressed as comic characters, do not think that is normal for Catalans… they are cosplayers. It’s worthy going around and take pictures as much as you can, they really look like real characters, I swear!

  1. ROME AND CINECITTÀ WORLD

Rome is known for its majestic history of the Roman Empire, but … do you know that it also has a long and crucial history of cinema? If you’ve never visited Cinecittà World, this is the time. Sooth to say that when I went there I was very impressed by this event because besides taking selfies with Hollywood celebrities for my Instagram, I also went to the theme parties they organized for Halloween, it is a real fun and chilling party! Take a note: prepare a good costume and do not let yourself be frightened by others.

Besides that, to make your holiday even more unique, here is another tip: take a Rome night tour. Everything will be more romantic with a play of night lights and, if you are not a fearful person, try the guided tour at night where the guide will tell you the most terrifying stories of the city.

  1. PARIS AND THE CEMETERIES

November holidays means Halloween and All Saints day when Paris is the perfect city to honor the dead ones. Does this sound too sinister to you? Believe me it is not. The Pere Lachaise cemetery – one of the most famous in Europe – is worth a visit. Leaving a rose over Jim Morrison’s or Oscar Wilde’s grave is a ritual I do every time I visit the French capital.

Another equally well-known cemetery is the area of Montparnasse. Here you can “meet” with Charles Baudelaire and Jean-Paul Sartre and if an older man offers to be your personal guide to the cemetery do not be scared and ACCEPT the offer! You cannot even imagine how difficult is to find the tombs of celebrities.

  1. MADRID AND THE COSTUMES

Okay, if you have chosen Madrid as the November runaway destination, we already know what you want to do: partying.

The capital of Spain perfectly knows how to solve all your needs, but do not intend to travel without a costume in the suitcase because “truco o trato” are the keywords you will hear throughout the whole week. Finding a costume shop and the best costume will not be easy, but I’m sure you will. Try to get the most creative because in many discos they let you enter for free if you have a fun and original outfit. Let your imagination fly … in Madrid everything is allowed.

However, I start thinking that “the holidays are for the young” and if you are also in that crisis here I leave you the antidote. Are you excited about the best horror movies? I advise you to see “Veronica”, a Spanish movie about a young woman from Madrid who died after paranormal behavior … prepare the popcorn and go!

  1. LISBON AND THE BEACH

If for no reason you want to get away from the sun and the beach, what you need is an escape to Lisbon (have a look to the post 10 places to visit Lisbon to have an amazing holidays). November in Lisbon means perfect climate, perfect city touring, perfect viewpoints, perfect walks around its neighborhoods like Alfama and visits to Tower of Belem.

My favorite quote is “it’s never too late to go to the beach” and I think you’ll agree with me once you get to know the marvelous Carcavelos beach, the ideal destination for surf lovers in Lisbon.

You´ll get the creeps … this time not because of Halloween, but of the cold water of the Atlantic Ocean.

May you recommend me any new destination for the next All Saints day? Do not hesitate to share it in comments, inspire us for future adventures!
